Dulwich College (Singapore) is seeking an Art and Design & Technology Technician in August 2026 to support the effective delivery of lessons within the Art and Design Technology Departments by preparing materials, managing resources and maintaining equipment. Working closely with teaching staff, the technician ensures that practical activities are organised safely and efficiently, enabling students to engage fully in creative and technical learning. The role requires working collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative to anticipate departmental needs, maintain well-organised workspaces and contribute to a high standard of teaching and learning.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the Art and Design Technology Departments in the preparation and delivery of practical lessons.
Prepare, organise and distribute materials, tools and equipment required for lessons, ensuring they are ready in advance.
Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom setup, including setting up workstations, demonstrations and practical activities.
Clear away, clean and store equipment and materials after lessons to maintain an organised working environment.
Manage and monitor departmental resources and stock levels, ordering materials when required in line with department procedures.
Maintain safe, clean, and well-organised workshops, studios, preparation rooms, and storage areas.
Work collaboratively as part of the Art and DT team, supporting teachers and responding to departmental needs.
Carry out basic maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment, reporting faults or arranging repairs when necessary.
Support the safe operation of specialist equipment such as kilns, laser cutters, 3D printers, sewing machines, printing presses or workshop machinery (or willing to learn).
Assist with the preparation and installation of displays and exhibitions of student work within the school.
Ensure all workspaces comply with health and safety regulations, including safe storage of materials and chemicals.
Maintain records of equipment, stock and safety checks where required.
Support the organisation of departmental events, exhibitions or enrichment activities and regular weekly lunchtime duties.
Contribute to an environment that supports high standards of teaching and learning across the department.
All other duties that commensurate with the role.
The successful candidate will have:
A relevant technical qualification (Diploma or Higher Certificate);
A minimum of one year’s relevant experience, ideally gained in a school environment;
An understanding of, and interest in, Art and DT equipment and resources, including their use and maintenance;
Experience of supporting student learning would be an advantage;
Excellent communications and inter-personal skills and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage own time effectively;
The ability to work well as part of a team, supporting colleagues in delivering exceptional teaching and providing a safe environment in the Art and DT rooms;
An adaptable and flexible attitude, and a willingness to use initiative;
Be physically able to work in a busy environment.
